What do hamsters eat? hamster owners only please?

okay i am getting a pet hamster this saturday. its my first hamster. i need to know what they eat and where is the best place to get them in joplin, oklahoma. and do they like cold or warm, and what things do they need in their habitat, should it be in a cage or an aqaurium? and if if its a boy i was thinking about naming it Blanket if a girl it would be Paris. i love those names. thanks :)
